Agentic AI describes artificial intelligence systems that operate with a degree of autonomy rather than only responding to individual prompts. An agentic system can interpret a goal, decide what actions are required, interact with tools or software, maintain state across steps, and escalate to a person when predefined conditions require human involvement.
