Service Mesh

A service mesh can provide traffic routing, mutual TLS, retries, policy enforcement, telemetry, and service-to-service authentication without embedding all of that logic in each application. It can be useful in large microservice environments but may add operational complexity. The concept gives engineers a way to reason about tradeoffs between reliability, performance, consistency, coupling, operational cost, and development speed.
